Georgia, also known as the peach state, (errr... I hate to be the barer of bad news, but California actually dominates the peach market, producing ~12 times as many) is my next "pit" stop.

Kitt's all juiced up so we leave Myrtle Beach and peel towards the supercharger in Santee, SC.

I'm sure most are familiar with North Carolina's Research Triangle Park located between Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill, but how many have heard of South Carolina's; located between Wendy's, McDonald's and Burger King?

I arrive at my camp 25 miles outside of downtown Savannah, just in time for laundry, a beautiful sunset and not much else.

In the morning, I hear downtown parking in Savannah is to be avoided so I decide to give Kitt the day off and take the recommended sightseeing tour which will pick me up from the campground and drop me off in Savannah.  Once I arrive, I board a hop on/hop off trolley that gives a narrated historical tour of Savannah.

Now, you might think me crazy, but for me, the time spent in Savannah is mostly about the people and not so much about the historic town. Yes, it is well laid out with it's 22 squares (most of which are small garden like parks).  Yes, it has interesting specimens of architecture and of course it is loaded with history... lots of it.  I'm trying to be a good student but the historical narrative is over-ripening the cranial fruit and I just can't consume any more. I stop eating, bypass the Green-Meldrim House, the Sorrel-Weed House, the Isaish Davenport House, the Telfair's Owens-Thomas House, the Roundhouse Railroad museum, The Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum, etc., etc., etc. and head down to river street to mingle with the locals.

I see a retail establishment called Wet Willie's, which has me wondering... so I go in and check it out.

How could I have made it to this age and not have known that a wet willie is "when u lick ur finger then put it in some ones ear and twist ur wet finger around." ? Now that's a peachy morsel of useful information!

  1. You always have this really amazing smile when your car is plugged in. Maybe you're getting some of the juice yourself, some sort of overflow. :-) And, as a photographer, I'm always curious as to who is taking the photograph. it seems like you have your very own support vehicle and team following you, creating the best props, wardrobe, make up, and who make everything just look really wonderful. Yes?

And we spent another night in Sampson. We were in Napa at a friends house for a party and rather than drive back late we cuddled up under a full moon for a good night sleep waking up to see the sunrise over the Napa Valley.

You are our inspiration and I love your blog.

    1. Thank you for putting 'another' smile on my face with your nice comments.

I am so impressed that 2 (or more?) of you spend the night in Sampson! I once was able to talk my 6'2" husband into joining me for a sleep over with Kitt, but did not have much luck with follow on success.

That's awesome that you guys are campin' it together. There are great times ahead for you both!

  2. As a new Model S owner, agonizing over whether to attach my front license plate, I notice that you haven't attached yours. Has this ever caused any problems with the police?
